Nestled in our beautiful community of Montecito, the Montecito Union School District prides itself on its singular school, Montecito Union School. The public school serves almost 400 students from Kindergarten through 6th grade and is well connected to its surrounding community. Consistently outranking most of its counterparts in California, Montecito Union School is highly regarded as an esteemed learning facility.

The outstanding performances shown by its students are a direct result of the nurturing and enriching environment of Montecito Union School and its instructors. Placing a premium on smaller class sizes, the school boasts an average student-teacher ratio of 11:1 - half the size of the state average. This allows for personalized instruction and individual attention, producing outstanding, thriving students. In 2021, the school was ranked #80 among California elementary schools, placing it in the top 5% statewide. An impressive 85% of students test at or above average in both math and reading, far surpassing the state average. The school ranks in the top 1% for its students’ math levels, while their reading proficiency levels rank in the top 5%. They have even been awarded the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon for their environmental stewardship, and have been recognized as a distinguished school in 1998, 2014, and 2018.
