Welcome autumn with some of the festive and exciting events happening around Santa Barbara next month!

 

CALIFORNIA AVOCADO FESTIVAL

OCTOBER 1ST & 2ND

Known as the South Coast’s largest free festival, this annual Carpinteria event features entertainment from over 75 acts, over 70 arts and crafts vendors, and dozens of food booths celebrating endless ways to eat delicious avocados.

Come hungry & enjoy plenty of avocado treats!

 

SANTA BARBARA VINTNERS FESTIVAL

OCTOBER 8TH, 1PM-4PM

At Old Mission Santa Inés in Solvang, taste wines from over 50 wineries and sample regional cuisine from dozens of restaurants and chefs. Interact personally with winemakers and winery owners from across the area and learn firsthand how Santa Barbara Wine Country produces globally recognized wines from one of the most diverse growing valleys in the world.

 

SANTA BARBARA HARBOR & SEAFOOD FESTIVAL

OCTOBER 15TH, 10AM-5PM

Visitors and locals alike will have the chance to meet the fishermen who catch and harvest the high-quality seafood sourced sustainably from local waters.

Dig into some of Santa Barbara’s specialties, including freshly caught lobster and sea urchin prepared before your eyes. Visit specialty food booths for fish tacos, oysters, mussels, fresh crab, clam chowder, seafood paella, and more.

 

RIDE SANTA BARBARA 100

OCTOBER 22ND, 7AM-5PM

In its 11th year, Ride Santa Barbara 100 returns & offers four distinct courses to suit a range of cycling abilities. Each course delivers a world-class Santa Barbara cycling experience! 

 

HALLOWEEN FESTIVITIES

 

LANE FARMS PUMPKIN PATCH

SEPTEMBER 24TH- OCTOBER 31ST

Lane Farms Pumpkin Patch features everything necessary to get into the Halloween spirit. With hayrides, farm animals, tractors and farm equipment, educational displays, a corn maze, and tons of pumpkins, what more could you need for a night of family-friendly fun?

 

BIG WAVE DAVE’S PUMPKIN PATCH

OCTOBER 1ST - OCTOBER 31ST

Known as a great spot to pick the perfect pumpkin, this local patch offers a variety of kids activities, photo opportunities and an abundant selection of pumpkins to choose from. Make fall memories with the entire family!

 

SANTA BARBARA GHOST TOURS

ONGOING

For fun and a mysterious scare, join Professor Julie Ann Brown as she tours you through the streets of Downtown Santa Barbara. Santa Barbara Ghost Tours offers a variety of tours in which the stories of the local resident ghosts are shared.

 

SCARECROW FEST & DAY IN THE COUNTRY

OCTOBER 15TH, 10AM-5PM

Day in the Country is a Los Olivos tradition of celebrating their quaint country town. Enjoy the season with a small town parade, NatureTrack 5k & Fun Run, 100 vendor booths, Fig Mtn Beer Garden, live music, food trucks, and Wine Roundup through town at several award-winning wineries.

 

BOO AT THE ZOO

OCTOBER 21ST-30TH, 5PM-8PM

Enjoy Halloween-themed scenes, trick-or-treating, mad science experiments, and more during Boo at the Zoo.

Your ticket includes event entry, trick-or-treating, Zoo Train ride, mad science experiments, dance party, creepy-crawly animal encounters, and bounce houses.

 

MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT

 

THE SANTA BARBARA BOWL

ONGOING

Internationally recognized artist and UC Santa Barbara alumni Jack Johnson makes a two-night appearance on Oct. 4 and 5 to bring hits like “Better Together” and “Banana Pancakes” to his former home and alma mater. Australian EDM group RÜFÜS DU SOL takes the stage on Oct. 8 for their first-ever appearance at the Santa Barbara Bowl, and Death Cab For Cutie closes out the 2022 season on Oct. 19. 

 

CARMINA BURANA – SONG, DANCE & SYMPHONY

OCTOBER 15TH & 16TH, 7:30PM-9:30PM

As part of the Granada Synergy Series, the Symphony continues its impactful tradition of performing arts collaboration to create new experiences for the community. More than 150 performers from State Street Ballet, Santa Barbara Choral Society, Quire of Voyces and Sing!, the Music Academy’s children’s chorus join The Symphony on stage in a breathtaking program.

 

FIELDS OF FUNK

OCTOBER 22ND, 12PM-10PM

Park Social’s Fields of Funk is back for a Halloween-themed celebration! This utopian day festival has everything: live music performances, food trucks, clothing vendors, art installations, a full bar, a silent disco, and a roller skate rink! Set up some lawn chairs and blankets to create your own cozy oasis and enjoy the day grooving on the field surrounded by the ocean breeze.
