The property itself has won acclaim from the wine community for the high-value wines it created. Wine Spectator awarded a score of 94 to the Vogelzang Sauvignon Blanc, while the vineyard's Reserve Viognier won the attention of the James Beard Foundation in New York City and of Los Angeles four-star restaurant, Patina. Many fine restaurants have included Vogelzang wines on their lists, including Spago, Patina, The French Laundry, Bouchon Bistro and Bouchon of Santa Barbara, Per Se, Restaurant Daniel, Four Seasons/52, Michael's in New York City, and Blackberry Farm in Tennessee.

Vineyard

The operational model for the vineyard has shifted in recent years and they now sell 100% of their fruit to prestigious wineries such as Foxen, Liquid Farm, Ken Brown, Dragonette Cellars, Gallo Brothers (Bridlewood) and Joel Gott. and Rusack among others.  Coastal Vineyard Care and Management handles the day to day farming operations and placement of the annual fruit crop.  Thus, a new owner can participate in as much or as little of the actual property operations as they wish and in fact they could very well own the vineyard and operate remotely from any where in the world, should they choose!

The 75+/- acres of vines produce mostly Bordeaux varietals including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Sauvignon Blanc, besides the Rhone varietals Mourvedre, Grenache, and Viognier. A vertical trellis system with heavy-duty gauge wire allows dense vine spacing, and thus more vines per acre. Pioneering vintners use this technique to encourage a vineyard environment that nurtures the growth of exquisite fruit.

Additionally, the property features two water wells; one a high producing AG well that produces about 500 gpm, the other a smaller well that produces about 75gpm. A fully stocked fish pond provides the potential for frost protection, while a metal barn on slab accommodates equipment and offices.

With the fantastic potential for an estate site, the property boasts plenty of space to build an expansive home and equestrian facilities alongside the vines. Irrigation and electricity are already available on the property, and graded all-weather roads wind throughout the vineyard to a stunning lookout spot.
